5 BEST BUDGET CAMERAS FOR BLOGGERS AND BEGINNER PHOTOGRAPHERS
THE BEST BUDGET CAMERAS FOR BEGINNER BLOGGERS
When you first make the decision to enter the world of blogging or amateur photography, the first question you ask yourself is likely– what camera do I buy? What are the best budget cameras out there? Throughout my experience taking photos and producing imagery for my blog and Instagram, I do want to emphasize that you can get good quality photos with a wide range of cameras. If you choose to use a digital camera over a phone, as long as the camera allows you to shoot in Manual mode and shoot in RAW, it will give you enough of a starting point.
You don’t need the most expensive camera out there to start (I advise you don’t invest heavily in the beginning just to make sure blogging or content creation is something you actually enjoy and want to do first). And when you do go to buy, focus more on finding the user interface you prefer and learning how to use the camera, over all the specs and worrying about upgrading your gear.
MY CAMERA KIT AS A LIFESTLYE BLOGGER/VLOGGER
I completed my current kit about two years ago, and haven’t added to it since then. I have one camera body I use for everything– photo and video– and four lenses, one of which I actually think was a bit of a waste for me and I definitely want to rehome soon. To clarify, when you buy digital cameras, you can buy the camera body separate fro the lenses. The lenses give you different focal lengths or crops– so you image will be more zoomed in or zoomed out depending on the lens, and you’ll have different degrees of background blur as well.
My camera body is the Canon EOS 80D. This camera is great for me because it gives you 24 Megapixel photos, which is great quality for blogs and instagram, and also has autofocus in video and a flip out screen which make it great for Youtube. The lenses I own and use with it are the Canon 50mm 1.8, the Canon 18-55mm kit lens, the Canon 24mm 2.8(which I never use), and the Sigma 30mm 1.4 ART lens. My favorite lens is the Sigma 30mm Art lens– I use this pretty much all my photos and videos. My first buy was the Canon 50mm 1.8, but because the Canon EOS 80D is already a crop sensor camera, the 50mm is a little too zoomed in to be functional for me.
The Sigma 30mm 1.4 is a good framing for portraits and for full body shots, and I love the colors you get with the Sigma ART series.
It took me about 4 or 5 years of taking photos to get to the Canon 80D, so just know you don’t have to start there. I’m currently thinking of swapping out my current setup for the Sony A7iii and Sony 35mm 1.8 lens, just so it’s more compact. I will let you know if I do make that switch.
5 BEST BUDGET CAMERAS FOR BLOGGERS
Now, what are the best cameras and lenses to get if you are just getting started, don’t want to spend a load of money, but still want good quality? I think these 5 are the best budget cameras for beginner bloggers and amateur photographers. They will give you great image quality out of camera with photos you can work on in your preferred editing software. They will also give you good video quality if you want to try your hands at video content. Most importantly, they will not break the bank, and allow you to learn the workings of a camera.
CANON EOS M50
CANON EOS REBEL T7
SONY ALPHA A6000
PANASONIC LUMIX G7KS
OLYMPUS PEN E-PL9
I find the Canon interface quite easy to understand and so generally recommend those for anyone new to cameras. However, their best cameras are the DSLR’s which can be quite bulky. If you are looking for something more compact, then Sony and Olympus make some of the sleekest cameras which also pack a punch with photo and video quality. These will be easy to carry around to shoot street style and landscape shots, without your having to worry about lugging your camera bag everywhere.
All 5 of the budget friendly recommendations I have also come with kit lenses included in the price. For a camera body, and a good quality kit lens, you will be paying under $700 for these beginner blogger friendly cameras.
I hope this post was helpful, and if you have any questions please leave them in the comments.
