My hunt for spaces in Accra with beautiful interiors led me to Concrete Jungle Accra, where I stopped for food last weekend. I am weak for velvet and jewel tones in interior decor, and Concrete Jungle Accra has both so I was definitely smitten the minute I entered the space. Their take on the ‘Concrete Jungle’ theme is being intentional about incorporating green elements (plants and lots of emerald velvet) into the concrete sprawl that Accra can sometimes feel like.Â
The restaurant and wellness center has an outdoor space in addition to this gorge indoor area, that has a hammock, trees to sit underneath, and even more elaborations on their slightly boho, eclectic decor.Â
Their food menu gives you a little bit of everything- from breakfast foods to rice dishes and a grill menu. It can be a little bit overwhelming in that regard but you can trust that whatever you get will be good. I got a quiche and a side of fries (odd combo, but I wanted both of those things) and liked both. Their service was pretty good- our food did take a bit of time to arrive but the staff was very reassuring and kept checking in with us to make sure we weren’t getting agitated.Â
I’ve been told their cocktails are the true star of the show but I didn’t have any when I went. I’m planning on going back and trying a few soon.Â
Overall, I think this is a really decent spot to spend a lunch with a friend, and I will be going back to it soon.

STAYCATION WITH OLMA COLONIAL SUITES About a month before COVID-19 was recognized as a global pandemic and movement restrictions were put in place, I spent a nice little weekend at Olma Colonial Suites. It was a bit of a split between a vacation, or staycation, and a content trip for me. I had a few pieces I wanted to shoot, and Olma Colonial Suites is one of the most photogenic…
I recently took a day trip to the Royal Senchi Hotel in Akosombo. With travel restrictions lifting, I’m slowly trying to get into leaving the house more, taking all the necessary precautions to do so. I wasn’t quite ready for an overnight stay yet, but this day trip was the perfect way to get used to outside being open again.
