HOW TO CREATE YOUR 2021 VISION BOARD
There are those years that you look back on, and you remember how incredibly pivotal they were in your life. There are specific moments that you can point at creating growth in you, and specific experiences that molded you. 2020 for me, was not one of those years. In some ways it now feels like a fever dream, a blur of drawn out days and late work nights, and interactions that I can’t honestly say I remember.
The end of the year into the new year is always a bit of an emotional time for me, and I think that coupled with the emotional weight of going through a pandemic and feeling uncertain about the future, really pushed me into a state of anxiety and emotional precarity. But, I didn’t have the time to process what was happening in my personal and work life, and the feelings of the new year, until I was forced to stop because I got COVID. I can’t even answer the question of how that happened– another mystery of 2020 I guess. But the days I spent in isolation with myself and my thoughts forced me to face the feelings I was experiencing and make decisions to better my mental and overall wellbeing in 2021.
At some point at the beginning of the year, I made a vision board. I have had these dreams and aspirations that I have delayed for years because i thought I didn’t deserve them, and that other people’s ideas of who I was would be confused by my pursuit of them. But I am a much more expansive person than that. We only get one life, and there’s no real point living it in the shadow of others’ expectations, mutable stories you’ve crafted about yourself, and the fear of not succeeding.
I made a video about how I came to my vision board, my process for creating it, and the resources I used to create mine. I hope you enjoy the video!
