How To Tie A Headwrap

My hair has been through so much. I get bored so very easily; and I have gone through my kinky afro, perming my hair and then transitioning back to afro, weaves, sporting waves, wigs, braids, half wigs, really anything you could think of. Right now, I am in a phase of transitioning (for the third time) back to my natural hair.

Having been through a few hair states, I can tell you now that transitioning is the most uncomfortable. That in between point when your edges are fully 4c but your ends are Rosalinda can be super difficult to style. One of the ways that I work with my hair and let it breathe is head wraps.

I love head wraps because they can be tied so many different ways, come in so many different fabrics, and are truly a bad hair day life saver. I made this one with some fabric I got for super cheap from the Ecoworks store in New Haven. It came as a large square fabric so I just cut in half and sewed it down the middle. I loved the color too much to let it go.

Brown Head-wrap

I tied this one by rolling up a smaller scarf like a ‘kehyire’ and putting that where I wanted the dome part of the wrap to be. Then, I tied the main head wrap fabric around my head and tied it around the dome. I rolled it around and tied it again at the back, then tucked it in all around.

The dress is a really simple tan tube dress I got from a shop downtown- PCX in New Haven. It fits really nicely, but is not the best for when you have a permanent food baby. I wear it anyway, as I am too shameless to care.
