My Experience Buying Clothes from Aliexpress

Today’s post, I am sharing my experience buying clothes from Aliexpress.

One of the main things I want this blog to be about is cultivating great style without spending a whole lot of money. Fashion can be an expensive habit but it doesn’t have to be. There are so many ways I’ve found to find good stylish pieces on a budget, and so today’s post I’m sharing my experience buying clothes from Aliexpress.

Aliexpress is a Chinese wholesale website, much like Romwe or Shein if you’ve ever used those sites. The difference here is that you can get pretty much anything on Aliexpress whereas those two sites I mentioned earlier are strictly for clothing. A lot of people who want to go into small retail business will typically buy their product in bulk from Aliexpress vendors at the wholesale prices which tend be relatively low and then sell them at retail prices for a profit. This goes from shops that sell tech gear to hair shops to online clothing boutiques.

Because Aliexpress vendors typically sell at wholesale prices, they are great places to find clothes for pretty cheap. Of course, the price depends on the vendor and the product you’re buying but typically the prices are better than what you would pay on other clothing sites. I decided to give them a try because I wanted to find some of those micro sunglasses that are trending, but didn’t want to pay anything high for them. I found vendors selling them for 2-3 dollars on Aliexpress. You can watch the video below to see everything I got in that purchase, and from another Chinese wholesaler on Amazon.

Now, I want to share some the things I’ve learned from my experience buying clothes from Aliexpress so that your experiences can be smoother than my initial ones.

When you’re buying clothes from Aliexpress, the main things you want to pay attention to are the seller rating; the product reviews; and the size charts. I only ever buy from sellers that have a 4.8 rating or higher with at least 100 reviews. Some companies will have 5 stars but from one or two orders, and I typically don’t trust those as much. I also think it’s really important to check whether the product has reviews with photographs. Those are reviews where another regular person like you and me bought the item, and posted a photo of it when writing their review. This can be really helpful to gauge how true to image the product is in real life, and can be really useful in determining what size to get as well. Which brings me to my third point, always check the sizes. I usually only buy stuff that has a size range rather than one size fits all because the body type for clothing from Chinese wholesale is pretty small. I am a US 6 and will typically be a Large or XL in items from wholesale sites. The size chart might also vary from vendor and product so just be sure to check before you make a purchase.

I purchased the Aliexpress items to have them shipped to Ghana, so I thought I would share my experience with that too. The items came in about two weeks- which I thought was pretty good since they were coming snail mail from China. They just arrived at my post office (they send you updates on the packages’ progress and you get a delivery notification) and I just went in to pick them up. I didn’t have to pay taxes or duties on them too so that was a sweet sweet deal.
