My Updated Everyday Makeup Routine for Dark Skin

Over the years my interest in makeup has grown, and with it *I hope* has my skill level at least when it comes to putting makeup on myself. I have also been able to curate products over time that I like and I think work for my skin. My skin is actually pretty dry, I used to treat it like it was oily when really it was only sweaty because of heat and humidity. Left up to its own devices, it needs as much hydration as possible. This routine caters to that need, and doesn’t dry out my skin too much. I use as little powder as possible, and always mix a luminous product into my foundation- my choice product is Mac Strobe Cream in Goldlite.

I recently got my hands on the new L’Oreal Infallible Fresh Wear 24 hour foundation in the shade Mahogany (540). It’s a really beautiful skin like finish and the color match is great on me. The Maybelline Instant Age Rewind concealer is so good! I have it in the shade Hazelnut which looked really light when I first put it on, but blends out so seamlessly it didn’t even look like it. I like to spritz my face with Mac Fix Plus between layers of makeup so it all melds into my skin. I then go on to do all my cream products– cream contour, blush, highlight. Then, I set it all with a light dusting of the Sephora Microsmooth powder. I think I have found my favorite mascara of all time- the Lancome Monsiuer Big really works magic on my lashes. I have really tiny, low volume lashes but this really brings them out.

I’m a big fan of really natural simple makeup so I rarely wear colored lip products- I almost always just wear lip balm or lip gloss. I also typically do my brows before my foundation by just filling them in lightly with a pencil. I wanted to give you guys this round-up of everything I’ve been using lately because they work really nicely together. It’s really awesome now that I can walk into a drugstore and have my shade in enough foundations that I can choose between formulas, and not have to spend more than thirty bucks on a foundation unless I actually want to.

I hope you enjoyed this round-up!

Best,
