About a month before COVID-19 was recognized as a global pandemic and movement restrictions were put in place, I spent a nice little weekend at Olma Colonial Suites. It was a bit of a split between a vacation, or staycation, and a content trip for me. I had a few pieces I wanted to shoot, and Olma Colonial Suites is one of the most photogenic boutique hotels in Accra. I checked in with my friend and photographer, and we set about planning some editorial shots, and just taking a break from our regular lives.Â
Olma Colonial Suites is located in the heart of Osu so it’s very close to all of the main hubs of Accra nightlife, and tons of restaurants that deliver or are a quick drive away. Keep in mind that the hotel serves breakfast but does not have its own restaurant, so you will have to make plans for where to eat. Â
The staff is very efficient and for the most part, stay out of your way. They were very good about answering any questions we had, and didn’t give us any trouble about shooting so I had absolutely no complaints on that front.Â
The grounds are beautiful– the focus here is really keeping the environment as green as possible. The hotel is covered in trees, flowers, vines, and their commitment to keeping things green is even reflected in the coloring of the pool.
The rooms are very clean and well maintained, and we did not have any issues with our accommodations. The decor changes per room, but you can expect standard apartment finishes in each one that would definitely meet your housing needs.Â
All in all, we had a great time there and I would recommend it for anyone looking for a nice hotel in the center of Accra.Â

I recently took a day trip to the Royal Senchi Hotel in Akosombo. With travel restrictions lifting, I’m slowly trying to get into leaving the house more, taking all the necessary precautions to do so. I wasn’t quite ready for an overnight stay yet, but this day trip was the perfect way to get used to outside being open again.
My hunt for beautiful decor led me to Concrete Jungle Accra last weekend. Read on for their food and drinks menu, and why I will definitely be going back.
