On the Rug || Coconut Milk and Pink

#foreheadgame

This is my ‘ooohhhh’ face.?? I get it sometimes when I really like something, or am awkwardly trying to smile. Which is what was happening here but whatever.

So, I went to the Body shop, and they were having this giant sale (everything was still way more money than I was ready to spend on soap) and the girl at the counter practically sang about this body milk.

She rubbed some of it on my hand and I had this look on my face. As you might have guessed I bought it. And it’s been a pretty good life decision.

It’s really moisturizing and makes your skin shiny. I like that because I’m dark, and it is not cute when I look ashy and dry. Anything that says it will make my skin shiny is good for me. I probably won’t buy it again, because it is more money than I want to spend, but if you can afford to, it’s a good buy.

The next thing I’ve got is this lipstick from Maybelline. It’s in the colour Vivid Rose from the Color Sensational line.

I mentioned in a post on my tumblr that any pink made me look clowny and my friend suggested this one.

It’s a lot more flattering than I had ever expected a pink to be, especially when you use lip liner in a darker colour. It’s very vibrant so it works with my skin I feel.

I am so proud of myself for buying and wearing this because if you are dark skinned you know you are tired of hearing, ‘that color would never work on you’ ‘it’s too much of a contrast’, ‘are you sure about that?’

And you’re just on the other end like, ‘Can I live?’

I mean definitely, there are some colours that don’t work on people. Like most pinks didn’t work on me. I find that that’s more because of their undertones than their actual skin tone. If you want to wear pink with blue undertones but your undertone is more golden, that will probably not look right, which Is what I was doing, but there a ton of warmer toned pinks that will make you look and feel beautiful.

Don’t feel like you can’t wear something or do something or try a color because of your skin. Don’t. And this goes to people from the fairest of fair, to the darkest of dark. Know your body, know your undertones, know how to work things to suit you. You’ll feel so much better when you decide for yourself what  does and does not make you look good.

lol this has been a bit of a rant, but I feel like it was necessary.

Also, this pink is such a pretty colour.

Peace, love and funk,

Amoafoa.
