THE PRETTIEST COFFEE SHOP IN ACCRA : ORCHIDEA

Finding a coffee shop in Accra for work or meetings is an increasingly easy task as the franchises continue to pop up all over the city. Orchidea Flowers and Coffee, however, stands out from all the rest with its ridiculously pretty decor, and the added benefit of being surrounded by beautiful, well cared-for greenery. Accra can be a hectic place–even for those who are able to work remotely– and this coffee shop provides a gorgeous serene haven from the hustle of the outside world.

Located in the Roman Ridge area, opposite the Azmera Ethiopian restaurant, Orchidea is primarily a flower shop. The decor is designed to complement their focus on florals but adds an elegant vintage touch to its function as a coffee shop as well. The feeling of classic vintage is maintained with their choices of rustic, unfinished wood for the art pieces in the shop; and with the use of velvet and lace fabrics in the seating options. Stepping into Orchidea for the first time, I was completely in awe of how well curated it was to serve that specific aesthetic and how effectively it evoked a sense of calm as one walked in.

Orchidea Flowers and Coffee has a simple menu from which you can order coffee or tea, or from a small selection of sandwiches. I got a simple espresso because I needed the energy boost, and right on brand, it was served to me in the prettiest frilly china. The staff seem generally helpful, and will answer any questions you have quite promptly. I had no qualms about the service I received. The building is equipped with wifi and there are outlets to connect electronic devices as well. It is generally pretty quiet and it would make the perfect spot to take a book, choose a nook, and get lost for a few hours. If you are looking for a quiet coffee shop in Accra, I cannot recommend this spot enough.
