How To Style Slip Dresses : Vintage Vibes
The Couch Potato EP by Bobby Raps & Corbin is one of the sultriest pieces of music I have heard in my young life. It was a recommendation by a friend who introduced it that way, and was dead right about it.
It’s the kind of music I listen to on a day when I’m facing a long list of boring chores and I need to feel like Naomi Campbell and stunt on drudgery. Well, not really stunt, more just glide through life reminding myself who I am.
The minute I heard the song Welcome to the Hell Zone, I had this image of a delicate slip dress in an even more delicate shade of blue, with tousled hair and a nonchalant air- something like a Sleeping Beauty with heavy black eyeliner and an edge to her rising from slumber- and I knew I had to recreate it.
I am so thankful fashion made nightgowns appropriate in the daytime. (Although, we wear what we want anyway, no?) This shade of blue, coupled with the feel of the fabric and the lace detailing at the bottom, makes me feel like an absolute goddess walking through life. And it’s such a comfortable wear- it literally feels like you rolled out of bed and waltzed to class.
To tone down the bedroom air, I paired the dress with these flare heeled boots in a gorgeous patent leather that really are such an upgrade to any outfit, and turn the outfit into even more of a statement.
This coat that I found in Salvation Army, YAS SALVO, is so comfortbale and so warm, and really adds an air of sophistication to anything with its clean lines and the faux fur lapel. I promise yiu it’s the softest most lush thing I’ve touched.
Really all that’s missing from this is a wine glass.
Here’s to hoping the library isn’t chilly today.
