Summer Dresses For Any and Every Occasion
Summer dresses are a need. Thank you for coming to my TED Talk.
It’s the season of linen dresses, and floral mini dresses, and cut out dresses- and I couldn’t be happier. The summer is my favorite time of the year (ok, second to Christmas) and even though winter fashion is more interesting, I love dressing for the warmer weather too. The great thing about it, is that your wardrobe becomes about finding key staple pieces that will carry you through the season: denim cutoffs, go to tops, and of course some stunning summer dresses. The one I’m wearing is from Tobi, and you can find it here or similar here and here.
Linen is the season’s biggest fabric, which makes sense because it is such a breathable fabric, and the texture it has gives garments in the fabric an interesting quality . If you’re in Accra/Ghana finding the fabric and getting it made into your ideal summer dress won’t cost you much. (I have a post coming soon about a dress I got made this way). It’s really easy to find linen summer dresses on any of your go-to retailers like ASOS or Boohoo or F21, and at really good price points. I have a few listed in the carousel below.
What drew me to this dress were the tie front and cut out details, I thought they added a really sweet feminine edge to it that I liked. It’s also in my favorite color, white, and I have mentioned before why I love wearing white so much in this post you can check out here.
It’s also in this midi length style that has quickly over taken the mini dress, and which I find just easier to wear. For the summer, my goal is always ease and comfort and this dress ticks those boxes. I think finding the right summer dresses for you comes from accepting what you need to feel most comfortable, so you don’t get sucked into the hype of body con dresses if you don’t actually like that; or into the wave of off shoulder linen dresses if you don’t actually like that. The key when shopping is to always remember that it’s about you and your current body, and your current needs. I have often bought things for the hype and worn them once, and those are my most regretted purchases. It is always more beneficial when building a wardrobe to invest time in finding classic timeless pieces you can wear year after year. With this dress for instance, while linen is a bit of trend right now, it has always been a great fabric option for warmer weather and that won’t change just because the runway styles do.
Always remember, timelessness is the key principle.
As always, sending you love and light,
Amoafoa.
