White Shirt, Red Mini Skirt
When the temperatures go up, so do hemlines. Today’s summer outfit ideas post, I’m talking about easy ways to style mini skirts!
I love mini skirts. They make the easiest summer outfit to just throw together!
I love when my legs are free and out in the open, and able to catch the wind and breathe. As soon as the weather is right, I put all my denim away and bust out the skirts.
Mini skirts can seem tricky at first but the key, I’ve found, is to find which shape works for you and then work around that. You can get A line mini skirts, body con mini skirts, flare mini skirts- and they all will look and style differently depending on your height and your body type.
I, for instance, love an A line mini skirt. The reason for that is that I have something of a bum so when I wear flare mini skirts they just aren’t cut in a way that they could cover over that and still have enough left of them to cover my upper thigh. I usually stick to more rigid shapes of mini skirts so I don’t just have everything hanging out there. Body con mini skirts also tend to ride up on me so I stay far away from those.
If you’re wondering now why I’m wearing a flare mini skirt in this post there is a method to this madness. I got this skirt years ago, and my body type then was much thinner all around. Then, because my legs were thinner and I didn’t have a bum to lift the skirt in the back, this gorgeous flare mini skirt only served to make my legs look like they grew from my armpits and make them look toned and glowing. Since my body has changed, the kinds of mini skirt that I find flattering and comfortable has changed as well.
When you find the shape that you like to wear, my next styling tip would be to wear them with a shoe that further elongates your legs. Short skirts already do so much to lengthen your body, so why not help them even further? I like to wear a pointed toe shoe or a nude colored shoe when I wear a mini skirt as it makes my legs look even longer.
With a flare one like this, I also like to keep the top more conservative so that there’s balance in the outfit. I chose this white button down first because I love white tops, then also because I feel like it dresses up the look a bit. What do you think?
Loove those shoes!!!
thank you! I really love them too xx
This looks really cute, and those shoes are adorable. I wish I could wear more skirts, but my thighs always rub together and it makes it uncomfortable, especially in the heat. Maybe if I tone up a bit then I can look more into wearing them!
