BEST LONG-WEARING MAKEUP PRODUCTS FOR DARK SKIN

Finding the perfect makeup products with a deeper skin tone can feel like a never-ending treasure hunt. Add in other skin concerns like dryness and enhanced texture, and it can seem nearly impossible. Thankfully, I’ve done the work of testing out products so you don’t have to. My skin type is dry with patches of texture, and my skin tone is two shades darker than most brands typically make. So it’s safe to say, if these products work for me, they will most likely work for you too. I haven’t included color products in this edit as that will vary from person to person in terms of which finishes, colors, and formulas you enjoy. Enjoy this edit of the best long-wearing makeup for dark skin tones.

I’ll be the first to admit I never really believed in primer. I always felt that good skincare was enough, even if it didn’t help the longevity of my makeup. This $10 ELF primer has completely converted me. It’s a dupe for the more expensive Milk Hydro Grip primer (which I’ve tried) and this works even better. This primer is very moisturizing and leaves a tacky base for your foundation product to grip onto. I’ve worn it with skin tints, full coverage foundations and concealer all over the face, and it’s been perfection each time. My makeup always looks beautiful 6-12 hours later. I don’t know what sorcery it is, but this works!

I was very excited about this foundation launch. I’ve been dabbling in clean beauty lately and was excited to see a black-owned clean beauty brand launch in Sephora. I was pretty confident I would be able to find a shade- and they did not disappoint. The shade DPN4 completely disappears into my skin- an incredible feat considering I made the purchase online.

The foundation is moisturizing, has a natural-radiant finish, flexible medium coverage, and glides over texture. It’s also very long-wearing, looking better as it settles into your skin over the day. I think this would work across a variety of skin types and tones.

Pat McGrath makes the silkiest, most beautiful powders. They are blurring over any texture, disappear where they are placed, and feel light on the skin. This loose powder works beautifully under the eyes or all over the face. I prefer to use it by pressing it into my skin with a sponge.

I find that it sets my concealer without looking heavy or enhancing the lines under my eyes.

It honestly looks like a blurring filter over the skin.

Setting sprays have been touted as elongating the wear of makeup for years, and for years I’ve never really found one that lived up to that claim. Enter Charlotte Tilbury with this absolute masterpiece of a product. If you follow me on Instagram, you have heard me rave about this product perhaps a little too much.

It’s essentially glue in perfectly fine mist form. This will make any base product transfer-proof, and add a good 3 hours to its wear time. I always use it on days I’ll be wearing a mask and it helps immensely with product wearing off or indent lines. It also gives a pretty, radiant look and will melt away the powdery look if you went in too heavy with powder.

These makeup products are my top recommendations as to the best long-wearing products for dark skin. They come even more highly recommended if you have dry skin and deal with uneven texture. I’ve been enjoying them and I’m confident you will too.

Love,
