What I Wear : Sort of floral dresses
Anyone who knows me knows that I can almost never ever ever ever do floral print. It’s like how I can’t do white chocolate; I’m sure it’s good, but I just can’t.
But that was before this dress. Because Lor knows I wear it every chance I get.
I got it at the Burlington Coat Factory when some friends and I went boots shopping for the winter. Now, summer clearances are joy to my young heart- even if I can’t wear anything I buy for nine more months. I remember I spotted this one and a multicolored jumpsuit but ended up just getting this.
It’s incredibly comfortable and roomy, and the lace detailing at the hem sort of picks it up a bit. This dress, together with my fedora, is the most me thing I own. It’s whimsical and weird and awkward but serious if need be, and even more importantly, made for warmth and sunshine.
My favorite part of this outfit though, is the floral headband. My best friend and I were walking through Mr Price (we do that a lot btw) and I spotted it. I was rolling on the floor for her to get it for me because I didn’t have money that day. I remember this was before the whole Coachella/ festival look became a thing so a floral headband was rather out of place ( yes, I do think I spotted the trend)
At first I was afraid to wear it, but I did anyway. And over time, I got comfortable with it and wearing and doing other things that would be considered weird. Now I wear it with reckless abandon ? and hide in trees and tell myself I’m a nymph.
I was thinking this could work as a look for Afropunk in NY. It’s a very festival/day concert look, no?
I’d really love to hear about which of your clothes make you feel like you can run the world. And are you loving this weather or whaaa.
If you’re reading from Gh probably not ? the heat can get very oppressive. Mr Price is a good place to get easy to throw on dresses like this though if you’re looking to get one.
Peace, love and funk,
Amoafoa.
